2013 is a year divisible by 3. According to the Bible every three years all Tithes are to be given to the poor, fatherless, widows and the sojourner. SEE BELOW:

Deuteronomy 14: 27 And you shall not forsake the Levite who is within your towns, for he has no portion or inheritance with you. 28 “At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your produce in the same year, and lay it up within your towns; 29 and the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do.

Deuteronomy 26: 12 “When you have finished paying all the tithe of your produce in the third year, which is the year of tithing, giving it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within your towns and be filled, 13 then you shall say before the LORD your God, ‘I have removed the sacred portion out of my house, and moreover I have given it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all thy commandment which thou hast commanded me; I have not transgressed any of thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them;

Now I understand the dynamics of the modern church. Bills have to be paid. Also, portions of what is given to the church is used for ministry purposes such as scholarships, feeding the poor and being able provide employment to those in need. But let’s imagine this for a second. Let’s imagine what we would be able to do if every single church on the planet was able to manage its financial resources well enough to be able to give all of its received tithes away to those in need every 3 years. If we were able to do that maybe we would be able to eliminate homelessness or maybe those who were hungry would truly be fed.

I mean if we are not going to be obedient to scripture at least we could give 50% of our tithes to the poor every 3 years right??? Too much??? How about 40%? 30%? I wonder how God will judge us based on this particular scripture.
