Mind, Body, Soul, Are They Connected?
Watch this video as Terrell gives a recap of his second full marathon in 42 days. Terrell explains how this particular race had an impact on his mental energy and his spiritual connection to God. He also explains how he was able to complete such a difficult task.

Notes:

Mark 1

12 And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. 13 He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him. [1]

 Luke 4

4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’ ” [2]

Fasting:

  • Reason to Fasting – Repentance and confession, aiding in prayer, associated with morning, act of devotion, act of worship.
  • Jesus may have been forced to fast because of the lack of food in the desert
  • Reliance on God during spiritual warfare

The only time Jesus is tempted and comes face to face with the devil is when there is a lack of food

Studies show more than 23 million people live in food deserts. Nearly half are low-income.

Diet and Violence – Does diet affect our behavior?[3]

  • Studies were conducted on prisoners.
  • 35% of those given Omega 3’s in the study were said to have a decrease in angry and/or violent behavior
  • Placebo inmate violent behavior dropped 7%

Omega-3, junk food and the link between violence and what we eat[4]

omega-6 fatty acids come mainly from industrial frying for takeaways, ready meals and snack foods such as crisps, chips, biscuits, ice-creams and from margarine

As omega-6 goes up, so do homicides in a linear progression. Industrial societies where omega-3 consumption has remained high and omega-6 low because people eat fish, such as Japan, have low rates of murder and depression.
