Isaiah 43:18-19

Do not remember the former things and do not consider closely ancient things. Watch out! I am doing a new thing; now it sprouts up. Do you not know it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Don’t remember the former things?! Don’t remember the former things?! YOU CRAZY!

After everything I’ve been through, you simply want me to forget about it?! My God, my God you have bumped yo’ head. Besides, often when I think about the former things, I recall from whence God brought me.

The writer isn’t telling Israel to disregard all that they have come through. However, he is saying that if you are so focused on what happened three generations ago, ten years ago, or even ten minutes ago, you might miss the glory of what God is about to do.

WATCH OUT! The same God that delivered you before is about to deliver you again.

WATCH OUT! Don’t get so caught up in how you think God failed you in your last situation, that you can’t recognize what God is doing, or about to do in your current situation.

WATCH OUT! God speaks in the Bible but God also speaks in your life today. There is validity in our modern experiences with the divine.
